The short version
Wellspring collects only what we need to take your gift, send your receipt and tell you what it did. We never sell, rent or swap donor details. You can ask to see, correct or delete yours at any time by writing to hello@wellspring.foundation.
What we collect
- Gift details: the amount, whether it is one-time or monthly, the appeal or program you chose and the date.
- Who you are: your name, email and country, and a postal address if you ask for a paper receipt.
- Things you tell us: a dedication, a wish to stay anonymous, or a message sent through the contact, volunteer or partner forms.
- Website data: pages visited and the device and browser used, through privacy-friendly analytics.
How we use it
- To process your gift and send the receipt you need for your tax records.
- To send one summary of your giving each January.
- To send field notes four times a year, only if you asked for them. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- To keep accounts, pass our annual audit and meet charity law.
Payments
Card and bank payments are taken by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number. The provider sends us the amount, the date and a reference so we can match the gift to you.
Who sees your details
Staff who handle gifts and receipts, our auditor once a year, and the payment and email providers that work on our instructions. Field partners and villages never receive donor contact details.
We never sell or rent donor data, and we never share it for someone else's fundraising.
Anonymous gifts
Tick "anonymous" and your name is left out of every public list and report. We still keep it privately, because the law asks us to know who gave.
How long we keep it
Gift records are kept for as long as the law asks for accounts (usually seven years). Volunteer and contact messages are deleted after two years. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete what we are not required to keep, and object to any use you did not expect. Write to hello@wellspring.foundation and we will answer within 30 days.
Children
Our site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect details from anyone under 16, and photos of children in our stories are published only with a parent's consent.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, for monthly donors, by email.
Contact
Questions about your data go to hello@wellspring.foundation or +1 (415) 555 0142.
Still not clear?
